The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson

Rory Deveaux is finally figuring out who she has become. She recently moved from her hometown to London, England to further her education. Rory is the kind of student who crams before a test; she is not sporty and really has to try to fit into the early schedules and hockey playing. Then she finds out that London has something big happening. Jack the Ripper, a serial killer, is destructing everyone in London. She becomes close to a few friends, and has a small brush with death when she chokes on her meat at school, and that’s when her life changes forever.

She begins seeing things that nobody else around her sees. Jack the Ripper has been killing about three people a night, and even on camera nobody can see him killing these innocent people. Rory and her friend Jeremy are determined to figure out what is happening to Rory and how they can catch the Ripper…

I found this book very hard to put down. It is for anyone who enjoys paranormal encounters, and gory situations. It gave me very good visuals, and sometimes made me a little sick to my stomach. When I was reading the book I felt as if I was there with Rory, and it felt totally real.
